River flow, or discharge, is a measure of how much water is flowing through a location at a given time. Flow is measured in cubic feet per second (cfs). The Trinity River flows can change rapidly, especially with rains and melting snow from the mountains. Water is also released from Trinity Dam throughout the year for restoration and ceremonial purposes. Know the flows and prepare before you go out on the river!

Trinity River Restoration Flow Releases

Each year, Trinity River Restoration Program makes recommendations for Restoration Flow Releases based on the water year type. These recommendations as well as the announcement of the water year type occur each spring. A water year starts October 1 of any given year and runs through September 31, of the following year.
