Fishing

The Trinity River hosts some of the best Salmon and Steelhead fishing on the West Coast of the United States.  We welcome fishing enthusiasts of all skill levels and would encourage novice anglers to enlist the help of a local guide service.  It’s a great way to spend the day and learn the art of fishing and a hear a tall tale or two from an experienced teacher.

Whether or not you hire a guide, you will need to be sure that you have purchased a fishing license and gear.   Please be sure you are outfitted to accommodate the weather and you observe all necessary safety precautions.

For online information regarding fishing licenses and regulations, visit the California Dept. of Fish & Wildlife Inland Sport Fishing page.  Get your fishing license online here.

You can also obtain Fishing licenses at locations around Trinity County: Weaverville, Tops Mini Mart/Chevron, Douglas City Store, Del Loma: Del Loma Store & RV Park, Hayfork: Ernie’s True Value, & Ruth Lake Marina, in Mad River, CA.

If you’re looking for guide services or information about local conditions and fishing holes the following are some links to local river guide services: Butch’s Trinity Fishing (Butch can also be found at the Junction City Store), Steve Huber Guide Service, Steve Townzen’s Trinity Guide Service, Trinity Fly Shop, and Trinity River Adventures (“Trinity’s Most Exclusive Fly-Fishing Guide Service”).
